ABOUT THE TOUR
Welcome to Dharavi, the heart of Mumbai and Asia's largest populated slum. Covering 2.5 square kilometers is home to over one million people. Famous for being the backdrop of Slumdog Millionaire, Dharavi is a thriving community that will completely reshape your perception of what a slum is and slum life.
On your 2 hour walking tour you will not only see, but meet the people who work in one of Dharavi's many small industries. You will visit locals working in plastic recycling, garments creation, leather manufacturing, clay pot throwing and pastry baking. In addition there is the opportunity to visit Dharavi's residential area and a local school.

Your tour guide, Hashim Abdul, is a young local student who has spent his entire life in Dharavi. Hashim has been leading tours for more than 8 years and helped create the now popular tour route through Dharavi Slum. Loved by his community, Hashim dreams of studying in France so that he can make a better life for his community and family and is leading tours to make his dream become a reality.
